Phnam Bagley is an industrial designer and aerospace architect shaping the future of life both on Earth and beyond.
She earned an MA in industrial design at Strate (France) with a focus on space and luxury design, followed by an MS in space architecture from SICSA at the University of Houston.
As the co-founder of Nonfiction, a design and innovation firm based in San Francisco, she turns science fiction into reality, crafting innovative solutions that create a better, more sustainable future.
Her work spans industries and frontiers, from designing DeepTech wearables that enhance human health and performance to developing renewable energy systems for rural Africa and space habitats that enable scientists to thrive in microgravity. Since 2024, Phnam serves at Chair of Design at OSMED (Organization for Space Medicine, Engineering and Design), fostering an interdisciplinary approach to creating a safer, more inclusive future of human spaceflight.
Phnam’s design philosophy is deeply rooted in impact-driven innovation, aligning all her projects with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Her mission is to ensure that cutting-edge technology and design improve not only human lives but also the health of the planet.
Since 2016, Nonfiction’s groundbreaking work has driven over $750 million in fundraising, sales, and acquisitions, establishing the firm as a trusted partner for startups and global organizations alike.
Beyond her design work, Phnam is a passionate educator and storyteller. She co-produces Future Future, a video series that demystifies design and explores what lies ahead for humanity.
She also teaches creativity and innovation to NASA centers and law enforcement agencies, helping leaders envision and build better futures.
A sought-after keynote speaker, Phnam shares her insights on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including TED and SXSW.
