Caleb Weiss

ULA | Vulcan Development, System Engineering Leader

Caleb Weiss is a System Engineering and Program Management Leader at United Launch Alliance. In this role, Caleb is responsible for the overall System Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) planning for upgrades to ULA launch vehicles. Prior to this role Caleb was the Mission Manager on the Atlas V Starliner missions for six years. During this time he oversaw the integration of the Starliner spacecraft with the Atlas V launch vehicle, leading a team through the design, analysis, and operations planning for the first two Starliner flights on Atlas V.  Caleb played a crucial role in the launch vehicle technical development, ensuring the vehicle was fully certified and ready to launch astronauts safely on their way to the International Space Station (ISS).

Caleb is now leveraging his vehicle reentry and mission operations planning experience from Starliner to bring reusability to ULA’s Vulcan rocket where the booster engines will be recovered using a innovative inflatable heatshield for atmospheric reentry and landing.

Prior to his time on Atlas V/Starliner, Caleb spent 10 years working in various mission integration and mission management roles at ULA where he led engineering teams through integration and launch of several critical missions for ULA’s Space Force, NASA, and commercial customers.

Caleb holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, both from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
