Explore Mars, Space Florida, and L3Harris Launch the Trades in Space Video Series
ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 9, 2025 - With the global space economy estimated to reach $1.8 trillion by 2035, Explore Mars Inc., Space Florida, and L3Harris announced the Trades in Space video series at the AIAA SciTech Forum in Orlando, Florida, this week.
This new initiative by Explore Mars, in collaboration with Space Florida, industry, and government partners is designed to spotlight the essential roles skilled workers play in building the trillion-dollar space industry of the future. The video series aims to educate and inspire students, educators, and prospective tradespeople about the wide range of career opportunities available in the space sector.
“By highlighting accessible pathways to the space sector, we hope to ensure the United States continues to cultivate and maintain a robust pipeline of skilled professional workers as the space industry grows rapidly,” said Explore Mars CEO Chris Carberry. “We want to emphasize the critical need for skilled trades as the space industry continues its rapid expansion.”
As the space economy expands, so must our workforce, and these videos are a powerful tool to ignite interest in space trades. This dynamic series will continue to grow throughout the year and celebrate the contributions of welders, pipefitters, electricians, and other vital professionals who are helping shape the space workforce of tomorrow.
With the support of Space Florida, L3Harris, Explore Mars, and a growing list of partner organizations, these videos will be distributed to educational institutions, workforce development organizations, stakeholders, and policymakers across the United States to reach future generations of tradespeople. The video series aims to inspire potential workers by providing clear and actionable insights into how individuals can start their journey in space trades.
"Inspiring the next generation to work in the space industry is literally written into Space Florida's charter,” stated Mike Miller, Space Florida VP External Affairs and Workforce Integration. “The Trades in Space video series provides the perfect opportunity for employers to showcase just how accessible, and cool, it is to work in space!”
